Palaeoenvironmental features, paleogeography and palaeoclimatological conditions of quaternary ostracods at the south of old Konya Lake (eastern Çumra / Konya)

The study area is located in the South of Adakale-Cumra / Konya region. In this study, the ostracod assemblage of Hotamış formation belonging to Quaternary aged Konya Lake sediments was studied. One hundred and thirty-four samples collected from drillings (FSK-4, 5, 9) in the studied area were examined. Thirteen in FSK-4 drilling samples, 14 in FSK-5 drilling samples and 13 ostracod species in FSK-9 drilling samples were identified. The defined ostracods are: Darwinula stevensoni, Candona neglecta, Candona paralella pannonica, Mixtacandona cf. laisi, Pseudocandona compressa, Ilyocypris bradyi, Ilyocypris gibba, Cyclocypris ovum, Limnocythere inopinata, Prionocypris zenkeri, Heterocypris salina, Cyprideis torosa, Scordiscia sp. and Xestoleberis sp. The ostracod findings in this research were compared with the ostracod assemblages of the studies in Turkey and other countries, especially, it is observed that it is similar to Quaternary aged lake ostracod assemblages. All the species identified in this study belong to the Holarctic region. It was determined that the salinity of Hotamış Lake changed from fresh water to mesohaline environment during the Quaternary by utilizing the lithological features of the units and features of the environmental determinants of ostracods.
