Abstract (EN)
The noise that exist in nature are named and transformed into words by the people who hear them, together with the difference in sensation and perception, within the possibilities provided by the sound. The reflective sounds that add vitality to the expressions, have been frozen in written language and their being of reflections have been forgotten over time. The enlighting of the phonetic history of Turkic is possible by detecting the onomatopeic words in the Old Turkic vocabulary. Dîvânu Lugâti't Türk, the oldest dictionary of Turkic, which is very rich in content, as well as An Etymological Dictionary of Pre-Thirteenth Century Turkish, Old Turkic Word Formation, Eski Uygurcanın El Sözlüğü Eski Uygurca – Almanca – Türkçe by Jens Wilkens and finally the dictionary of Hasan Eren Türk Dilinin Etimolojik Sözlüğü constitute the sources of this thesis. The study consists of 6 chapters: "Introduction", "The Structural Classification of Onomatopeic Words in Old Turkic", "Onomatopeic Words in Terms of Their Source", "Sound Onomatopeic Words in Terms of Conceptual Areas", "Conclusion" and "Word İndex". Key Words: Old Turkic, Onomatopeic Words, Structural Classification, Sources of Sounds, Conceptual Fields of Sounds.
