A research on relationship between self-efficacy, marriage satisfaction and the mediator role of effective communication skills in married individuals

In this study; It aimed to examine the relationship between relationship self-efficacy, marital satisfaction and the mediating role of effective communication skills in married individuals. The study group of this research consists of 242 individuals (134 women, 108 men). The research was conducted using a quantitative, relational survey model. The data were collected by convenience sampling method so that the participants of the study were one person from each couple. In the study; personal information form, "Relationship Self-Efficacy"; "Marriage Life"; "Effective Communication Skills" scales was used. In the analyzes, statistically significant differences were found according to demographic variables such as age, gender, employment status, duration of marriage, dating period and having a pet. In addition, a positive and significant relationship was found between self-efficacy and marital satisfaction. It has been observed that self-recognition-self-disclosure and empathy which are sub-dimensions of effective communication skills have mediating effect on the relationship between relationship self-efficacy sub-dimension, emotional control and marital satisfaction. It has been observed that effective self-recognition-self-disclosure, empathy and ego-enhancing language which are communication skills sub-dimensions, have mediating effect on the relationship between relationship self-efficacy sub-dimension, differentiation and marital satisfaction. As a result, it was seen that relationship self-efficacy is an effective factor on marital satisfaction in married individuals. It was seen that effective communication skills have a role in affecting the relationship between relationship self-efficacy and marital satisfaction. Therefore, in order to increase marital satisfaction in married individuals, it recommended to carry out studies to improve relationship self-efficacy and effective communication skills.
