Assesment of afforestation of Anatolian black pine and Taurus cedar at Eymir Lake area

METU Forest and the surroundings of Eymir Lake have an important place in the green belt afforestation of Ankara province with an area of approximately 3000 ha. In this study; The afforestation performances of Taurus Cedar and Anatolian larch around Eymir Lake and the effects of aspect and slope on these growth performances were investigated. Between 950 and 1160 m elevations of the afforestation area, in areas with a slope of 0 to 27%; The development of Anatolian black pine and Taurus cedar in eight (8) sample areas of 20x20 m was examined. As a result of the research; In parallel with the increase in slope, the number of Anatolian larch individuals per unit area decreased. It has been determined that the main factor on the diameter and height development of the trees is the aspect, and the black pines planted in the southern aspects show better growth than the ones in the northern aspects. With this; It has been determined that Taurus cedars in northern aspects have better diameter and height than cedars in southern aspects. In general, it has been determined that the aspect and topographic features (upper slope (mountain slope) and valley) have a significant effect on the diameter and height development of both Anatolian larch and Taurus cedar individuals.
