Ebu Nasr Muhammed b. Muhammed b. Tarhan b. Uzluğ el-Farabi et-Türkî, who lived in the IX-X. century AD age, was born in the city of Farab in Turkistan. Farabi, who is acknowledged as "Muallim-i Sâni" by both his followers and contemporanies in the Islamic world of acedemicians, is one of the important philosophers whose works and ideas produced an extraordinary impact and became a centre of attention. Farabi achieved leaving a deep mark not only in his own age but also in the following ages with his ideas on many subjects ranging from God to existence to human to state, society and ethics. It is known that Islamic Religion and Greek teachings had an impact on Farabi's philosophic views. However, it is thought that another factor affecting tha philosopher's opinions are Turkish culture and Turkish thought. The aim of the study is to reveal the mutual aspects of Farabi's philosopy and old Turkish thoughts. Thereby how the culturel environment he lived in reflected on his world of ideas is going to be understood.
