ABSTRACTMSc THESISEFFECT OF Galleria mellonella (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)REARING ON DIFFERENT DIETS ON THE SEX RATIO AND MATUREDEVELOPMENT TIME OF Pimpla turionellae L. (Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae)Çağla İrem ÖZNERGİZDEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGYINSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCESUNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVASupervisor: Prof. Dr. İskender EMREYear: 2006, Pages: 28Jury Prof. Dr. İskender EMREAssist.Prof.Dr. Fatma ÇevikAssist.Prof.Dr. Mehmet SulançIn the study, the effects of host diet on adult development time and sex ratioof Pimpla turionellae L. (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), which is a soliterendoparasitoid, is investigated. Totally six diets were used and these diets wereproduced by increasing and decreasing with a ratio of 50%, omitting honey in controldiet. Same processes were done for honeycomb. The diet without honeycombdecreased the total adult and female ratios when compared with control and otherdiets. In this diet female emergence ratio is 38.55%. On the other hand in diet whichincluded 50% more honey than the control group female emergence appears to be77.72%. This is the maximum value throughout the experiment. Honey didn?t have asignificant effect on adult female development time however, increase of honeycombwith a ratio of 50% significantly decreased this time.Key Words: Pimpla turionellae, Galleria mellonella, sex ratio
