The investigate the relationship between sibling relations and accetance of their siblings who handicaped sibling in any kind of handicap

Ill ABSTRACT This sduty is prepared to investigate the relations of the healty children with their handicap siblings and to analyse their acceptance of their siblings. This study is made in Ankara in 14 different special education and rehabilitation center. 228-healty sibling aged 10-17 were subject to the investigation. They had siblings diagnosed with learning disability, mental retarde (MR), cerapral palys (CP), Mental Motor Retarde (MMR), Down syndrome (DS) and Autism. The behaviour of the healthy children against their handicap siblings (EKYTO) and against other handicap people (EBYTO) have been investigated. The investigator also used 'the info collection form for the children and siblings' developed by the investigator, to obtain the demographical information about the healty children and their handicap sibling. The study shows that the healty children behave positif to their own handicap sibling while their behaivour against other handicap individuals is not proper. The investigator takes into consideration "diagnosis, the sex, the difference in the sex, age, age difference, being senior or junior to the handicap sibling, education, duration of the education, degree of the handicap, and the number of the family members" during his/her investigation. In general it is observed that the healty children's behaviour against their handicap sibling is clearly changing according to "diagnosis, sex, age, education, level of handicap and the number of family members" while the same factors do not make any difference on their behaviour against other handicap people.IV The study shows that the boys rather than girls, children aged 10-13 rather than 14-17, children having elementry education rather than high school, children in a small family rather than big family behave well to their handicap siblings. It is also observed that "sex difference, age difference between the healthy and handicap child, being older or younger to the handicap sibling and duration of education" did not make any difference on the behaviour of the healthy children against other handicap people.
