Research on determination of yield and some agricultural properties of endemi̇c vetch species Vicia freyniana Bornm. at different development periods

This study was conducted to determine the yield and some agricultural properties of Vicia freyniana Bornm., which is an endemic perennial Vicia species to Turkey, in pre-flowering, full flowering, and pod filling development stages in Usak, in the 2019 year. In the study, single plants rooted in the greenhouse and planted at 1 m x 1 m intervals were used, and the data obtained from 10 plants for each development period were evaluated according to the design of randomized blocks. According to the results, the natural plant height in Vicia freyniana is 48,40 – 128,20 cm, the main stem length is 52,10 – 175,70 cm, the number of the main stems is 20,40 – 43,40 per/plant, main stem diameter is 7,73 – 10,13 mm, the number of leaves on the main stem is varied 4,00 – 15,30 per/stem. Forage and hay yields were determined between 4359,80 –5234,00 g/plant and 797.32 – 1873.15 g/plant, respectively, according to the growth periods. In Vicia freyniana, the average number of raceme per plant was determined as 143,34 per/plant, the number of pods per raceme was determined as 19,60, the number of seeds per pod was 2,32, the seed yield was determined as 42,78 g/plant and the weight of one thousand seeds was 6,67 g. According to the results obtained in the study, while leaf length, leaflet width, and length values in Vicia freyniana decreased with the advancing development period, significant increases were found in other properties. However, it has been concluded that it would be beneficial to carry out the study for at least one more year to make a better decision about the results obtained from the research.
