Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the carbon storage potentials of forest ecosystems, which are sensitive to climate change and degradation, and the characteristics of litter and soils of different stand types. Scotch pine, black pine and mixed stands, which are distributed in the Central District of Kastamonu Province, were chosen as the research area. In the study, litter and soil samples were taken and the analysis results were evaluated in order to determine some physical and chemical properties of litter and soils of different stands. As a result of the analysis, the highest moisture content in the litter samples was found in Scotch Pine with 42,39%, the highest pH in Scotch Pine with 7,69; and the highest carbon content in Black Pine stand with 33,57%. The highest volume weight value in soil samples is 1,81 gr/cm3 at 0-5 cm depth in Black pine stand, with 1,83 gr/cm3 at 5-10 cm depth in Black pine stand and with 1,90 gr/cm3 at 10-15 cm depth in Scotch Pine stand was detected. According to the results of the texture analysis, the highest amount of sand with 81,16% was in Scotch pine stand, the highest amount of clay was in mixed stand with 30,93%, and the highest amount of dust was determined in Scotch pine stand with 16,42%. According to the results of the pH analysis, the highest pH value of 8,10 was found in the mixed stand, and the lowest pH value of 5,30 was determined in the Scotch pine stand. According to the electrical conductivity analysis results, the highest EC value was found in the mixed stand with 189,40 μs/cm, and the lowest EC value was found in the Scots pine stand with 37,70 μs/cm. According to the results of the analysis, the highest carbon content of 2,76% was found in the mixed stand and the highest carbon content of 10,63 tons/ha was determined in the mixed stand.
