Child images and classroom management concepts of classroom teachers working in schools in different socioeconomic environments

In this research, classroom teachers' images of children and their understanding and practices of classroom management are examined within the framework of the socio-economic environmental conditions of the schools where they work.Since classroom teachers' images of children, classroom management understandings and practices were examined from their own perspectives, present research was designed and conducted in accordance with the phenomenological design of the qualitative research.The study group of the research was determined from classroom teachers with 10 years or more of seniority, working in public and private primary schools in the central districts of Mersin province, having previously worked in at least two schools with different socio-economic environment characteristics.The data of the research were obtained from interviews with 18 classroom teachers who voluntarily participated in the research by using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher.In line with the findings obtained as a result of the descriptive analysis, it was observed that the child images of classroom teachers working in different socioeconomic environments were similar, but there were differences in their understanding of classroom management.
