Abstract (EN)
In the maritime sector, which is developing day by day, it is inevitable that personnel from different nations work together. This situation may cause various problems in tanker ships where the risk is high. The aim of this study is to determine the cultural-based safety problems caused by the employment of personnel from different nationalities on tanker ships. In this research, a questionnaire was used as a data collection tool and since it is a problem to reach the people working on the ship due to the nature of maritime, the questionnaire was conducted online via the internet. The questionnaire consisted of 27 questions and a total of 103 people were reached. The survey results were analysed using descriptive statistics method. When the findings are analysed, it is seen that tanker ships have the most operational problems in manoeuvring and STS operations and social problems in food. In this study, it has been determined that a socio-cultural training to be given to the personnel on board or before joining the ship will enable people on board to get to know each other culturally more easily and minimise the occurrence of these problems.
