Abstract (EN)
In this work, antioxidant activity of purslane (Portula Oleracea L.) grown in four different regions, Elazığ, Diyarbakır, Mardin Batman, and cultivated in Elazığ were studied Antioxidant properties of samples analysed by different methods and results were compared. All the samples were collected fresh and dried under shed. Then the extract of (water, ethanol and acetone) investigated for the total phenolic substance, DPPH scavenging activity, H2O2 scavenging activity and metal chalets capacity. Analysis were performed by UV-Visible spectrophotometer. It was found that, total phenolic compound is the least in ethanol extract of purslane while highest in acetone extract. In addition, total phenolic compound is found to be the least in cultivated purslane (1,70±1,44) while the highest grown in Diyarbakır (8,38±0,83) (p<0.005). DPPH scavenging activities of purslane found to be the highest grown in Batman (16,1±2,27) while least in cultivated (3,28±0,88) in Elazığ (p<0.005). In general, DPPH scavenging activities purslane is the highest in low concentration of extracts. With the increasing concentration of purslane extracts, DPPH scavenging activity seems to be decreasing. When metal chelating properties of purslane extract were compared, the one grown in Elazığ (50,57±0,07) was the highest chelating capacities, while the least metal chelating capacities was found to be the cultivated (3,85±0,03) purslane (p<0.005). Hydrogen peroxide scavenging properties measured to be highest in purslane grown in Diyarbakır (35,78±0,23), on the other hand least in grown cultivated purslane (22,39 ±0,24) (p<0.005).
