Investigation of science teachers' research literacy skills

The purpose of this study is to determine the research literacy skill Levels of Science Teachers. The sample of the study consists of 70 sciense Teachers working in state schools in Mardin/Kızıltepe district during the 2022-2023 academic year, determined by random sampling method. Research data were collected using a Personal Information Form and"Teachers' Research Literacy Skills Scale." Standard deviation and mean values were calculated for the gender veriable, which has two groups, and for the Education level variable. One-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) was conducted to determine if there was a statistically signifıcant difference in the mean total scores obtained from the scale. Additionally, an independent samples t-test was conducted to determine if there was a statistically signifıcant difference in the mean total scores obtained from the scale by gender among Science Teachers. In the total scale of research literacy Skills, participants were found to perceive themselves as suffıcient and to exhibit their highest Skills in the research Process and preparation dimensions. It was determined that the lowest research literacy skill among participants was their ability to Access resources. When examining whether gender, Education level, and Professional experience had an impact on teachers' research literacy Skills, no statistically signifıcant difference was found. However, looking at numerical data averages, male Teachers. Similarly, based on numerical values, it was determined that Teachers with a master's degree and those with longer Teaching experience had slightly higher skill Levels. As a result, participating Teachers perceive themselves as sufficent in research literacy on average.
