In this study ,the sample group consisted of 59 students and the purpose wasto investigate the effect of ?student centered education model on teaching the aboutmagnetism?. The effectness of this model as compared to the traditional teachingmethods (was aimed to be determined). The unit about magnetism is included inprimary education 8th grade curriculum was taught to the control group studentsaccording to the traditional methods on the other hand, it was taught the experimentalgroup students according to the ?student centered teaching model?. ?Pretest-post test-control group design? was used for data collection. A test consisting of multiplechoice items, short answer items, pairing items was administered to the students formeasurement and the obtained data were analysed by using SPSS statistics packageprogram. The results of the study indicate, a statistical significant difference betweenthe post test scores avarege of the experimental and the control groups, in favour ofthe experimental group students? (p<0.05). It is concluded that this differenceresulted from the exerimental design applied in the research. During the experimentalstudy, the indepented variable applied to only the test group was ?student centeredteaching practise model?.Key Words: Student Centered Teaching Practice Model, Magnetism,Science Educationv
