Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of 8-week functional strength training for football players on biomotor characteristics. 30 male soccer players who participated in the Super Amateur Football League in the borders of Kutahya province voluntarily participated in the study. Athletes were randomly selected into two groups as experimental and control groups. The mean age of the participants was 22.6±1.40 years. Functional strength training was applied to the experimental group 3 days a week for 8 weeks. Functional strength training was not applied to the control group but they continued their routine football training. Body fat percentage, diameter and circumference measurements, flexibility, leg strength, back strength, hand grip strength, speed of 10 and 30 meters, speed of shot, wattbike anaerobic power test and agility t test were applied to the athletes during the study. The repeated measure anova test was used to determine the repeated measurements. As a result, a significant difference was found between body fat percentage, diameter and circumference measurements, flexibility, leg strength, back force, hand grip strength, speed of 10 and 30m, shooting speed, wattbike anaerobic power values and agility values.
