The effect of the teaching software which is prepared with Gagne's Teaching Model on the students' academic success rate in mathematics subject on square rooted numbers topic and students' attitudes at the eighth grade in primary school

This study is implemented to identify the effect of the teaching software which is prepared with Gagne?s teaching model implemented with computer based teaching method on students? success rate and learners? attitudes compared to traditional teaching method at primary school eight graders? mathematics lesson on Square Rooted Numbers subtopic of Numbers learning area.This study is student-centered and is aimed to effect of a learning approach that makes each student participate actively. For this aim, at the beginning of the study a research project is prepared after scanning related sources and getting necessary information. As mentioned in the thesis project, different control grouped pretest-final test model is used in this research.This study is applied to eighth grader students at a state primary school in Çankaya city of Ankara.The study is applied to two different classes which were taught mathematics by the same teacher. The experimental group consisted of 26, and the control group consisted of 27 students. The experimental group is taught by the teaching software prepared with Gagne?s teaching model using computer based teaching method, and the control group is taught with traditional teaching method.As a means of data collection, an achievement test on square rooted numbers is prepared and it was applied to both experimental and control groups three times before the experiment, after the experiment and about one month?s time after the experiment. The test items, which consisted of multiple-choice questions, are prepared covering the objective behaviours. In the process of achievement test preparation, the test is implemented to ninth grader students and expert opinion is consulted. Then, examination of the item analysis, reliability and validity of the test is done. After that, it is put into practice. Moreover, for the aim of seeing the students? attitudes about mathematics lesson, attitude measurement is applied to both the experimental and the control groups.In the process of the data analysis, the difference between the mediation points of the groups is tested through t-test. In the result of the study, compared to traditional teaching method the computer based teaching method with the teaching software prepared using Gagne?s teaching model has been identified to be more successful in motivating the students to learn and raising their academic success rate besides their interest in the lesson.
