Determination of yield potantials of different some dent corn (Zea mays indentata Sturt.) cultivars under GAP condition

In this study, it was carried out to determine the yield and quality components of varieties grown as a second crop in Mardin/Kızıltepe ecological conditions. The research was carried out in the Katarlı neighborhood of Kızıltepe district of Mardin province in July-2021. The research was carried out in a randomized block design with 4 replications. In the study, seven different corn varieties (Zea mays L.) compatible with the climatic conditions of the Southeastern Anatolia region were used. In this study, commercial hybrid corn varieties DKC6050, DKC5709, DKC6664, P0900, PR32T83, P1441, P0937 obtained from private seed companies were used as material. In the study, plant height, first ear height, ear length, number of grains per ear, flowering time, starch ratio, crude protein ratio, hectoliter, harvest grain moisture and grain yield parameters were investigated. Statistically significant differences were found among the cultivars in terms of all traits, except the ear length, which was examined in the study. In the study, it was determined that the grain yield was 1.252-1.452 kg ha-1, flowering days was 49.00-57.00 day, plant height was 217.38-236.80 cm, ear length was 18-21 cm, first ear height was 60.00-66.00 cm, number of grains on per ear, hectoliter values was 72.3-76.1kg, harvest grain moisture was 19.0-21.0%, starch ratio was 72.32-77.683% and crude protein ratio 5.195-5.780%, although it varies according to the genotypies. As a result of the research, it was determined that DKC6664, P1441, PR32T83 cultivars followed this cultivar with the highest grain yield, P0937, and all of the cultivars had FAO 630-650 days and yields above the cultivar average. It was concluded that the cultivars with FAO 630-650 maturity period under Kızltepe Mardin conditions may be suitable in term of yield.
