Materialist elements in Garip poetry

Orhan Veli Kanık, Oktay Rifat and Melih Cevdet Anday are the representatives of this group, which emerged in 1941 under the name Garip and brought a brand new breath to Turkish poetry. Representatives of Garip poetry aim to convey the social and social problems in their lives by talking about ordinary people in their poems. In addition, while the representatives of Garip poetry host nature, which is an indispensable part of human beings, into their poems, they also turn to the materials in nature and the objects/things that exist in daily life and placa them at the center of their poems. Fort this reason, in this study, the poetry book "Garip", in which the poems of Garip poets are collected, and the poetics of the Garip poem in this book, were tried to be examined in terms of materialistic featurest . In the study, first of all, the conflicts encountered by the strange, ordinary people who remain at the borders of the social line in the poems examined in daily life were determined. Later, the objects used in these poems and the places discussed were discovered. Based on the analyzed poems, concrete elements of nature that triggered the emergence of materialist thoughts were identifıed, and it was seen that religious and otherworldly thoughts, which weakened as a result of the unity of man with nature and object, were revealed. In addition, based on the poems examined, the problem of alienation against labor, the alienation adventure of the individual, the concept of ownership that is effective in human relations, the phenomenon of consumption, which is handled within the framework of new materialism and emerged as a result of economic problems, were conveyed in the axis of the views of Karl Marx, the pioneer of materialism. While reaching these data, the views of impartont philosophers and sociologists who conducted research on materialism were also used.
