Detection of grapevine virus diseases by serological methods in Gaziantep province

Prof. Dr. Mehmet ÖZASLAN September, 2003, 56 pages Grapevine production is a very widespread branch of agricultural industry either in Turkey or World, due to its considerable importance in consumption raisin and grape based products i.e. wine, melas, vinegar. One of the most serious problem of viticulture is virus diseases. Vineyard in İslahiye, Karkamış, Nizip, Oğuzeli and Şehitkamil districts of Gaziantep were surveyed. DAS-ELISA tests were performed to determine Grapevine Fanleaf Virus (GFLV), Grapevine Leaf-Roll Virus Types-I and III (GLRaV-1 and GLRaV- III) and Arabis Mosaic Virus (ArMV) on the samples collected. GLRaV-III (30%) in the studied fields was the most widespread virus then followed GFLV (24%), ArMV (15%) and GLRaV-I (10%). 181 samples out of 393 were subjected to DAS-ELISA test. It is determined that 52.8% of these samples was infected with one virus at least and 12.2% of patterns with more than one viruses. Key Words: Grapevine, GFLV, GLRaV-I, GLRaV-III, ArMV, Serology
