Systematics and ecology of bird species of Gaziantep province (Classis:Aves)

İsmail VAROLJuly 2004, 99 pagesIn this study, 92 species and 1 subspecies which belong to 14 orders and 38 familieswere discovered of 66 field Works carried out between 29.03.2003 and 06.05.2004in Gaziantep. Among these bird species according to IUCN criteria, 9 of them werealmost found facing extinction. 2 of them were endangered species. The presentcondition of 2 bird species has been evaluated as to be sensitive and 1 of them hasbeen extinct.In addition to the above mentioned bird species, it has been found out that there are22 water-birds, 7 raptors, 27 summer-emigrants, 34 local birds and also there are5 immigration passages. It has been foud out that the dams of Gaziantep, forexample Karkamış, Hancağız, Belkıs and Tahtaköprü are the crucial bird productionand halting-places.Key Words: Gaziantep, Birds, Systematic, Ecology
