Studies on the fauna and systematics of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Gaziantep, Turkey

This study depends on Tephritidae samples collected from Gaziantep province during years of 2008-2009.During the study collected 1702 samples, 28 species (Aciura coryli (Rossi), Urophora affinis (Fraunfeld), Urophora cuspidata (Meigen), Urophora dzieduszyckii Frauenfeld, Urophora jaceana (Hering), Urophora macrura (Loew), Urophora quadrifasciata (Meigen), Urophora solstitialis (Linneaus), Urophora stylata (Fabricus), Urophora tenuior Hendel, Acanthiophilus helianthi (Rossi), Campiglossa producta (Loew), Euresta bullans (Wiedemann), Sphenella marginata (Fallen), Tephritis dioscurea (Loew), Tephritis hurtvitzi Freidberg, Tephritis postica (Loew), Tephritomyia lauta (Loew), Trupanea amoena (Frauenfeld), Trupanea stellata (Fuessly), Chaetorellia carthami Stackelberg, Chaetorellia loricata (Rondani), Chaetorellia succinea (Costa), Chaetostomella cylindrica (Robineau-Desvoidy), Terellia gynaecochroma (Hering), Terellia luteola (Wiedemann), Terellia serratulae (Linneaus), Terellia virens (Loew) belonging to 12 genera (Aciura, Urophora, Acanthiophilus, Campiglossa, Euresta, Sphenella, Tephritis, Tephritomyia, Trupanea, Chaetorellia, Chaeotostomella, Terellia), were recorded from 4 subfamilies (Aciurinae, Myopitinae, Tephritinae and Terellinae) from the region.Identification keys for subfamilies, genera and species of the specimens collected from the region were constructed and morphological charecters of the species were presented together with the wings and aculeus illustrations. In addition, among these distribution of the species in the region and the world was stated.Because of there is no record from Gaziantep belongig Tephritidae family, all of the species is new record for the region. This thesis is the first study in the area so it will asist to determine the Turkey Tephrtidae fauna.Key words: Fruit flies, Tephritidae, Fauna, Systematic, Gaziantep, Turkey
