Association of haemogram parameters in the 1st trimester with poor obstetric outcomes in pregnant women

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and lymphocyte monocyte ratio (LMO) parameters obtained from first trimester haemogram results and poor obstetric outcomes in pregnant women with preeclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, premature rupture of membranes and threatened preterm birth. In our study, 60 patients with preeclampsia, 60 patients with gestational diabetes mellitus, 60 patients with premature rupture of membranes, 60 patients with threatened preterm labour and 60 control group in whom these diseases were ruled out were included. Haemograms of the patients were recorded when they presented to our outpatient clinic in the first trimester. NLR, PLR, LMO values were calculated using haemogram parameters. And these values were compared with the control group. A significant increase in NLO values was observed in patients with pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus and threatened preterm labour (p<0.05), whereas no significant increase was observed in patients diagnosed with premature rupture of membranes (p>0.05). PLR values showed a significant increase in the group of patients with pre-eclampsia (p<0.05), while no significant increase was observed in other diseases (p>0.05). No significant increase was observed in LMO values in all diseases (p>0.05). In our study, a significant increase was observed in NLR and PLR values in predicting poor obstetric outcomes in the preeclampsia patient group. A similarly significant increase in NLO values was observed in the patient group with GDM and EMR. It was observed that more extensive studies are needed in the patient group with EMR.
