Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of maternal sleep quality during the last trimester of pregnancy on neonatal birth weight and other anthropometric measurements. The research was carried out among pregnant women applying to family health centers in the province of Eskişehir between 01.06.2024 and 31.12.2024. This study is a cross-sectional research designed to assess the impact of maternal sleep quality during the last trimester on neonatal birth weight and other anthropometric outcomes. In multivariable analysis, multiple logistic regression using the Backward: Wald method was applied to identify independent risk factors associated with poor maternal sleep quality in late pregnancy. A 95% confidence interval and a significance level of p<0.05 were accepted in statistical analyses. The ages of the 143 mothers in the study group ranged between 18 and 42 years, with a mean of 28.04 years. In the study, no relationship was found between the height, weight, and head circumference of the newborns and the sleep quality of the pregnant women in the last trimester. The study found that pregnant women with low income had 2.84 times poorer sleep quality compared to those with moderate income. It was also determined that pregnant women with high-risk pregnancies had 2.81 times poorer sleep quality compared to those without pregnancy risk. Low income level and the presence of a high-risk pregnancy were identified as significant risk factors for poor sleep quality during the last trimester. Considering that low household income negatively affects sleep quality in pregnant women, social support services, nutritional guidance, and psychosocial counseling should be provided. High-risk pregnancies require close monitoring regarding sleep quality for the health of both mother and newborn. Key Words: Pregnancy, Sleep Quality, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.
