Abstract (EN)

The aim of this doctoral thesis which consists of two main parts, theoretical and experimental, is the formation of neologisms from the past to the present and the morphological indexing of technology-related neologisms in national and international German textbooks. In this context, randomly selected neologisms in the context of technology from newspaper texts in national and international German language teaching textbooks written according to different language teaching methods published between 1950-2020 were analyzed morphologically. The theoretical section of the thesis includes German and Turkish newspaper headlines and news texts published between 1950-2020 and randomly selected from these years, which include important developments in the world, especially in the field of technology. Scanning German and Turkish newspapers in ten-year periods has enabled the reflection of the sociological conditions of the day on the language and the observation of the formation stages of neologisms. In the experimental part of the thesis, answers were sought to the questions such as how neologisms in the context of technology went through their formation stages between 1950-2020 and whether there is any difference between the neologisms in the context of technology in international textbooks used in German education and the neologisms in the context of technology in national textbooks. Neologisms were analyzed with both qualitative and quantitative methods. When the identified technology-based neologisms were examined according to their formation methods, it was determined that "Simple Words" with the highest percentage rate of 76% in nationally published German textbooks and "Compound Words" with the highest percentage rate of 84% in internationally published German textbooks were formed. National and internationally published German textbooks were analyzed in terms of including technology-based neologisms, and in this regard, a total of 97 technology-based neologisms were identified from nationally published German textbooks and 190 technology-based neologisms were identified from internationally published German textbooks.
