Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy levels of university students in the health field regarding CBRN-E events and to explore the relationships between these variables. The research sample comprised 1309 students enrolled at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University's Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Vocational School of Health Services during the 2022-2023 academic year. Data were collected using the CBRN-E Knowledge Test, CBRN-E Attitude Scale, and CBRN-E Self-Efficacy Scale. Statistical analyses, including the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, regression analysis, Spearman's Rho Correlation test, and reliability analysis, were conducted using SPSS 26.0 software. The findings revealed that only 12.1% of students received training on CBRN-E issues, while 67.7% expressed a desire to receive such training. Additionally, 75.7% believed that the ability to intervene in CBRN-E cases was necessary for their future profession. The average scores for students' CBRN-E Knowledge Test, CBRN-E Attitude Scale, and CBRN-E Self-Efficacy Scale were 22.01±3.96, 58.70±12.48, and 31.29±7.68, respectively. Significant variations were observed in these scores based on factors such as department, faculty, class, educational status, the desire for education, and perceived professional necessity. However, gender and GPA did not yield statistically significant differences in the measurements. The increase in students' knowledge of CBRN-E issues positively influenced their social and professional attitudes. Results indicated that students who received training exhibited higher levels of CBRN-E knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy compared to their counterparts who did not undergo such training. In conclusion, this study underscores the importance of health science university students receiving training on CBRN-E events that they may encounter in their future professional endeavors.
