Abstract (EN)

Throughout human history, individuals have shown a tendency to turn toward a higher power in response to the challenges, illnesses, deaths, and natural events they experience in the world around them. These higher powers are often perceived as supernatural beings, typically considered inaccessible. In an effort to appease such beings or to fulfill their perceived demands, people have engaged in various magical rituals. This study investigates the concept of magic by examining traditional tribal practices and mythologies. It begins with an exploration of the etymology of the term "magic" and related concepts. Subsequently, the study addresses the role and manifestations of magic in human life. Magic, as analyzed in this research, encompasses both beneficial and harmful acts carried out through ritualistic practices. Through case studies of traditional tribes, the study explores the purposes of magical practices, the rituals involved, and their meanings for believers. Additionally, it delves into the role and significance of magic in myths, regarded as sacred narratives. The research also examines the connections between magic and cosmogonic and eschatological myths, as well as the use of magical elements in natural phenomena and sacrificial ceremonies.
