Abstract (EN)

The richness of the cultural heritage of societies plays an important role in the promotion and tourism activities of countries today, and cultural continuity is ensured through policies developed for the protection of this heritage. It is seen that many civilisations dominated Anatolian lands with different physical environmental characteristics and local resources in the historical process, and Turkey has a rich tangible and intangible cultural heritage, each of which has special qualities from each other. Within the tangible cultural heritage consisting of monumental and civil architecture examples, traditional houses, which are also known as "Architecture without Architects" because they are built by craftsmen who know the lifestyle of the user and the behaviour of the building materials used, are predominant. In Zile, which has hosted many civilizations in the process and has a rich cultural heritage, traditional houses, which contain important clues in terms of lifestyle and social structure, accumulation and technology within the scope of tangible cultural heritage, have survived to the present day within a texture integrity. This study aims to discuss the spatial characteristics of the traditional housing examples selected in the area determined within the Urban Protected Area in Zile and to analyse them in the plan plane and facade layout with the Form Grammar method by producing rule sets in the plan plane created by Prof. Dr. Gülen Çağdaş in 1996 for traditional Turkish houses. In the first part of the study; the purpose and importance of the research, hypotheses and its contribution to the literature, and the materials and methods used in the study are defined. In the second part, through the concepts of traditional architecture and Turkish house, the language and form grammar of traditional architecture are conveyed and the use of form grammar in traditional housing texture is given. In the third part of the study; the location, geographical and spatial structure of Zile and the characteristics of the traditional housing texture in the area determined for the field study in Zile were discussed and the method used in the research was explained. In the fourth part; the findings related to the structures examined with the grammar of form were discussed and analysis templates were prepared. In the conclusion part of the study, the results of the research are evaluated and suggestions are presented for the protection and preservation of Zile traditional houses.
