Abstract (EN)

Handicrafts are an important element representing the culture of a nation. Within the historical process, weaving has been one of the oldest handicrafts. It has shown a continuous development in parallel with the history of humanity, and has found a place for itself as an art in different geographies in different periods with the use of different raw materials and techniques. Weaving has transformed in line with the concepts of aesthetics and design in the course of time. It has been aimed to make different and distinctive designs and recommendations for today's art of weaving, where aesthetics and function are combined, by getting inspiration from the traditional and relying on our own values and culture. Weaving is shaped according to various factors such as faith, tradition, climate, and lifestyle, etc. Every region has their own specific weaving. The main topic of the study is hand weaving that belongs to Tekirdağ region. In the study, the contribution of craftsmen who migrated from the Balkans and settled in the province of Tekirdağ and its districts dealing with the art of hand weaving to the traditional weaving will be discussed. The refugees and immigrants that came to the region have brought color and cultural diversity to the lands they settled without compromising their colorful and rich lifestyles in all spheres of life. With their weddings, music, clothes, weaving, lacework, carpets and rugs, they have created a rich culture in Tekirdağ and its districts. As a result of this study, by getting inspiration from the hand weaving of Tekirdağ region and using different materials, and in the light of today's fashion trends, three dimensional and relief-effect multi-surface original cloth designs that develop the structure, surface and volume of the material in woven clothes were made.
