Abstract (EN)
Aim: The concept of speech and language delay, is the situation that a child's performance of language development occurs less than its expected chronological age level. In current study, it is aimed to compare the children having developmental speech and language delay and the children having normal speech development with regard to their parenting attitudes. Material and Method: 54 children and their mothers are included into study in the manner that 20 children with developmental speech and language disorder are assigned as case group and 34 children with normal speech and language development are assigned as control group. Sociodemographic Information Form and Parenting Attitudes Scale (PAS) are conducted to all participant parents. Obtained data are statistically compared. Results: In this study, parallel with the literature it is observed that, frequency of having developmental speech and language disorder (DSLD) is higher in boy children. Beside this fact, there is a significant differance between groups with regards to mother's education level (p=0.02) and socioeconomic level (p=0.03) factors. Also a significant difference between groups is obtained in terms of parenting attitudes and it is observed that the level of Permissive Parenting Attitudes (p=0.03) and level of Overprotective Parenting Attitudes (p=0.01) is higher through parents of children that have DSLD. Conclusion: Several factors can be counted as the reasons of the speech and language delay through children, as the result of this study. In this study, the factors that; gender, mother's education level, socioeconomic level and also permissive and overprotective parenting attitudes have significant impact on of children language development.
