Along with the increasing world maritime trade after the Second World War, especially marine accidents leading to major environmental pollution can be seen. Founded in 1948 after the first major accidents, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) determines all operations of the ships such as cruise, port, maneuver, cargo, life safety and living standards of seafarers. IMO has established a wide control system to keep these operations under control around the world. Ships are divided into performance classes as a result of these checks and may face penalties with heavy money and time losses.
