Youth welfare policy Türkiye example

The fragmented structure of youth policies has led to superficial and scattered youth welfare practices. While it is emphasized that the state should address the policies implemented for youth within the scope of social policies; the thesis of the research is that these social policies should be egalitarian, inclusive, integrated, updatable, and welfare-enhancing policies with the ideal that youth, who are citizens, will be the cornerstone of the country's development in the future. In light of all these, the importance of the study is to understand the awareness of youth welfare and how it is addressed by state institutions and organizations; and the roles that the state and other stakeholders can undertake in supporting youth welfare by identifying the obstacles to the implemented policies and services. The study comprehensively examines the historical development and current status of youth welfare policies in Turkey. It aims to bring the development of youth welfare policy and various examples in Turkey to the literature. The theme titled youth welfare policies was researched with an exploratory research approach. The qualitative research method, which has become widely used in social sciences, was used. The qualitative data analysis aims to understand the potential of youth, the obstacles they face, and the state's role in youth welfare. The qualitative research method is frequently used and "purposeful sampling" is taken as the basis. The data were obtained through interviews. The maximum variation sampling method, which is included in the purposeful sampling method, was used for the field study of this thesis. The study comprehensively addresses theoretical and practical dimensions; the data collected through in-depth interviews are systematically analyzed. The findings strongly suggest that policies aiming to increase the welfare of youth should adopt a comprehensive approach that takes into account various dimensions and should not only focus on youth as recipients of these policies but also include youth as active participants in the shaping of these processes. It emphasizes the need for long-term social policies in more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable inter-institutional cooperation for youth welfare policies.
