Elements of divan poetry in Gevherî's divan

Folk poetry and divan poetry, which developed in a common culture and geography, fed from different sources and progressed in separate paths for centuries, were influenced by each other throughout the historical process. Divan poetry, which has a deep-rooted literary tradition, has influenced minstrel style folk poetry over time, and both the themes, dreams and forms of divan poetry have taken place in the works of minstrels. This influence has sometimes been evaluated and criticized as minstrels imitating divan poets. Publications have been made within the scope of articles on the effects of Divan poetry on minstrel style poetry. In this study, the divan of Gevherî, one of the 17th century minstrels, was examined in terms of form and content in order to reveal how the divan poetry tradition affected the minstrel style folk poetry. Thus, an effort has been made to reveal to what extent and how the elements of analogy and imagination of divan poetry affect minstrel style folk poetry - based on Gevheri's poems - with the help of selected sample poems. Information was given about the minstrel style poetry tradition and the divan poetry tradition, and the poems in Gevherî's divan were classified as folk poems written in syllabary and aruz, and poems written in ghazal and independent verse forms, and the effects of divan poetry were tried to be revealed.
