Investigation of the opinions of guitar course teachers on the studies and exercises they used in their lessons

This research was conducted to obtain the opinions of guitar lecturers teaching in music education departments of education faculties, fine arts education departments of education faculties in Turkey, regarding the etudes and exercises they use in their lessons, to make suggestions on the subject and to contribute to the development of guitar education. The population of the research consists of guitar lecturers teaching in music education departments of education faculties, fine arts education departments in Turkey. The sample of the research consists of 16 guitar lecturers from 15 different universities in our country. Semi-structured interview technique was used to obtain the opinions of the guitar course instructors who formed the sample. The questions, which were prepared in accordance with open-ended, category and Likert-type five-point rating scale in line with the opinions of 3 experts, took their final form after the pilot application. A total of 17 questions were presented to the instructors along with the interview instructions. In line with the answers of the guitar course instructors who participated in the research, it was possible to examine the resources they use most frequently in their lessons, their opinions about these resources, and the technical problems their students encounter most frequently. Descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained and certain results were reached. According to the findings obtained from the questions asked in accordance with the category and Likert-type five-point rating scale, the results were ranked by taking into account the arithmetic mean values and were presented in a table by making percentage and frequency analysis. The results of the findings obtained from the open-ended questions asked to the faculty members were presented and interpreted in tables by extracting various themes, codes and opinions. As a result of the research, it was determined that guitar lesson instructors had similar and different opinions about the resources they used in their lessons, their opinions about these resources, and the technical problems their students experienced. Along with the results obtained, suggestions that will contribute to the development of guitar education are presented by taking into account the opinions of guitar course instructors.
