Abstract (EN)
In our study, the auditory cortex and activities related to this region between two different groups of blind and typically visually impaired individuals were examined using auditory evoked potentials (AEP) through a medium-latency behavioral test. These analyzes were performed to evaluate whether visual impairment further improves hearing. This study includes a research involving two different groups. The first group consists of 15 people and these people are completely visually impaired. The second group consists of a normal vision group of 18 people. All groups are between 18 and 30 years old Two groups with no vision and normal vision were compared; The number of ears, Po-Pa and Na-Nb latency mean values, and standard deviations of the groups in which we observed latency differences are given. When we looked at the data of both groups, the Pa latency value was found to be statistically significant, but no significance was observed in other values. When we looked at the data of both groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the Nb latency value and the longest average Nb wave latency was found to be the blind group. Latency amplitude information of the ears were compared separately (independent samples T-test). No statistically significant difference was found between H.G-N.G. In terms of gender, a statistically significant difference was observed. In the vertex recording, the average Nb latency was found to be 41.2125 msec for women and 44.1858 msec for men. The results showed us that the average latency of women is earlier than men. Again, in the vertex recording, the average Na-Pa amplitude was found to be -2.9837 µV for women and -1.7441 µV for men. The results here also showed that women's amplitude values were observed to be higher than men. In the frontal recording, the average Pb wave latency for women is 52.8184 ms and for men is 55.8519 ms, which shows us that the average values of women are shorter than the average of men.
