Abstract (EN)
In parallel with technological developments, the significance of visuals used in almost every field of daily life is increasing. Accordingly, reading, rendering, interpreting the visuals and analyzing the connections between these visuals become important. Designers and artists shape their designs by transferring different events such as the visuals they are exposed to in their daily life, country and world agenda, newly learned information and cultural developments to their experiences. The fact that lived practices and experiences develop a different perspective, interpretation, relationship building, and critical perspective in the individual was revealed by various studies. The design experiences in the daily life of the individual who is at the center of design and the results and interactions of these experiences are considered to be important in the design and visual education process. In this context, this research presents a case study which has been conducted on the use of individual and individual-oriented works in the educational process, and on the expression of individuality. The research was conducted in the 2016-2017 academic year for 16 weeks with 6 students from the Visual Communication Project course, which is the spring term undergraduate course in the Visual Communication Design Department, Faculty of Art and Design, Osmangazi University. The data of the research, in which the researcher takes part as an observer, consists of observations, interviews, student information form, student diaries, researcher diary, video-audio recordings and student studies. The research data were analyzed by thematic analysis method and the findings from 3 main themes belonging to the process, learning environment, instructional design subjects, depending on the individual characteristics, were revealed.
