Abstract (EN)
Objective: In this thesis, it is aimed to determine the mass of lettuce plant using image processing technique. Materials and Methodology: For the experiments, 120 photographs obtained from lettuce plants in six periods were used. Using MATLAB software, the area of the lettuce petal projection was found in pixels based on the differences of the plant in RGB colour space and the actual area of the plant was calculated by proportioning it with the help of a known reference value. In parallel with the periods when the photographs were taken, the weight of the lettuce was also measured on a precision balance. Regression analyses were performed between the calculated true area and the measured lettuce weights. Results: As a result of the analysis, the coefficients of determination for the periods were 0.68 for the 1st period, 0.74 for the 2nd period, 0.78 for the 3rd period, 0.69 for the 4th period, 0.89 for the 5th period, 0.73 for the 6th period and 0.91 for the whole period. Conclusion: As a result of these values, it was determined that the weight of lettuce can be estimated with high precision and accuracy.
