Abstract (EN)

The Gövdeli feldspar deposit is located near Gövdeli village, 35 km west of the town of Doğanşehir. In the study region, the Malatya Late Paleozoic-Mesozoic metamorphic rocks, the Upper Cretaceous Doğanşehir granitoid, and the Tertiary-Quaternary sediments crop out extensively. The Doğanşehir granitoid is the most important unit in terms of a close association with feldspar occurance and represented by granite, granodiorite and tonalite. On the basis of geochemical observations, the intrusive rocks interpreted as I-type, calcalkaline granitoids. Tectonomagmatic discrimination diagrams confirm ensialic volcanic arc setting for the granitoid rocks. A study of the area reveals the occurence of feldspar deposit hosted by tonalitic intrusives. Geochemical data for the feldspar samples show average SiO2, Al2O3, K2O, Na2O, CaO, Fe2O3, MgO and TiO2 contents of 77.80wt.%, 12.92wt.%, 0.74wt.%, 6.16wt.%, 0.37wt.%, 0.75wt.%, 0.40wt.% and 0.15wt% respectively. The total alkali contents (Na2O+K2O) of the samples vary between 5.90% and 7.93% (average 6.90%), while Fe2O3 and TiO2 contents are low compared to similar numerous deposit in Turkey. The results of the analyses compared with those of the Turkey Feldspar Production Standard shows that the feldspar deposit can be used in ceramic industry as ?pegmatite masse? raw material. The uses of ungraded samples in ceramic industry can be expanded as a result of technologic analysis to attain a standart chemical composition. Keywords: Gövdeli, Feldspar, Granitoid, Ceramic
