Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT: In the historical process, art is a phenomenon that develops in a chronological manner, sometimes as a means of reflection and sometimes as an expressive language, although it reacts to each other in a chronological manner, it is a phenomenon that develops by feeding each other or by radically destroying all conventional thoughts and knowledge. Art is also an aesthetic power that is influenced by socio-cultural and socio-economic events and that evaluates these situations or contributes to the complete change of such situations. In this context, street writing, or graffiti and street art with its universally accepted name, dates back to prehistoric times in terms of its origin. Over time, public spaces where individuals trapped in cities and metropolises shout their existence and give provocative messages have turned into aesthetic spaces that bring the audience together with art in an unmediated way. In this study, the definition, differences and similarities of graffiti and street art according to the theoretical framework, the technical and aesthetic development process according to the art historical background, and the reflection of the conflictual dialogue with social authority on graffiti and street art in Turkey are investigated through artists and works.
