The analysis of Gulten Dayıoğlu's novels in terms of readability

In a rapidly developing and changing world, the development of the four basic skills of individuals called listening, speaking, reading and writing is important. Academic studies on this issue have been increasing recently. In this study, a "readability" study was conducted, which is considered to be the subtitle of the "reading" skill out of four basic skills. As a result of applying these data to improved readability formulas by obtaining the number of sentences, words and syllables in books, the ease or difficulty of the text, that is, in other words, its readability, is achieved. While the difficulty of the text is obtained in the old readability formulas, the difficulty of the text can be obtained in the more recently developed readability formulas as well as the class (age) december that the text addresses can be obtained. In this research, fourteen novels in the children's books section covering the age range of 9-12 december examined by document analysis method by using the classification on Gülten Dayıoğlu's official website. The data on the number of sentences, words and syllables obtained in the results of the research were analyzed in the form of tables and graphs and explained in the findings section. The application of these numerical data to the relevant formulas is also shown in this section, and the obtained data are examined in detail in the results section. As a result of the research, according to the Cetinkaya-Uzun readability formula, three of the novels were published at the disability level, while the remaining eleven novels were published at the educational reading level. According to Ateşman readability formula, the difficulty level of three novels was determined as easy, while the remaining eleven novels were determined as medium difficulty. In this case, it was determined that the novels generally fit the definition of readability of the age december on Gülten Dayoğlu's official website. it should also be taken into account that if the age december of 9-14 is called, there may be a classification that covers all 14 related novels.
