Abstract (EN)

For this study, the depictions of marginalized characters in sci-fi movies were problematized and scapegoat narratives in the Information Age were examined. While examining the utilitarian point of view about the congenital criminal, the accused or the one who has undertaken the crime, René Girard's work named "Scapegoat" was taken as the theoretical framework. The aim is to bring a new perspective to the theory, written by Girard in 1982, in the information age. In order to analyze the concept of the scapegoat, social crises, differentiating crimes, victim signs collected on artificial intelligence, and acts of violence in movies with cyborg, replicant and fembot elements, shot between 1980 and 2023, were observed. The steps of scapegoating are associated with myths based on Girard's analysis of Oedipus Rex. It has been argued that the scapegoat depictions in the information age need a new expansion by investigating the processes of defining the subjectivity of the scapegoats in the cinema and the systematic torture in the continuity of the communication between the other and the same. This argument has been defended by comparing other depictions of cyborgs from the period when Girard theorized the scapegoat to the present day.
