Abstract (EN)

This research carried out in ecological conditions of Diyarbakır and Elazığ provinces during the 2007-2008 growing season on some varieties of durum wheat which are raised commonly and are used for different purposes in the region. The study was conducted to determine effect of different zinc (ZnSO4) application dozes, which were respectively (1, 2, 3 and 4 kg/da), on yield and yield components of four durum wheat varieties which were Aydın 93, Balcalı 2000, Fırat 93 and Sarıçanak 98.According to results of the research, effect of applied zinc doses on grain yield and hectoliter weight of the durum wheat varieties was seen as negative in both locations. Grain yield values changed between 113 and 201 kg/da, and the highest grain yield value was obtained from Sarıçanak 98 variety which wasn?t applied any zinc doses in Diyarbakır location. Related results of the research, it is determined that unless contain of zinc in durum wheat is excessive low, it doesn?t give rise to the crop yield loses.Because climatic conditions of the locations during the growing season was very different from climatic conditions of the long term, effect of applied zinc doses on yield and yield components of durum wheat varieties was not determined accurately.Key Words: : Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. durum), zinc doses, yield and yield components.
