Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the relationships between phytoplankton and some physicochemical parameters from a station which was determined in İzmir Bay, Üçkuyular Ferry Port, with the samplings every other day. During the study period, 72 phytoplankton species were determined belonging to the classes Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae, Dictyochophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Raphidophyceae and Ebriidea. Besides phytoplankton, the group Protozoan was also examined. As environmental parameters; temperature, salinity, phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, silicate, total suspended solids, chlorophyll-a, conductivity, pH and oxygen were considered together with phytoplankton abundances. It has been elucidated similarities and/or dissimilarities of phytoplankton species by using Cluster and MDS (Multidimensional scaling) analysis and to show temporal differences and driving forces of environmental parameters by using PCA (Principal Components Analysis). Considering the phytoplankton composition, Bacillariophyceae and Dinophyceae are dominant to the other classes with regard to species and individual number. As there are not great differences between these two dominant classes with respect to species number, diatoms are superior with regard to cell number. In this study, which is also toxic and potentially harmful species have been identified. Although these species are not very rich in terms of number of species, in terms of the number of individuals were reached over a million. This is an indication of the environment that exposed extremely polluted and eutrophic.
