Abstract (EN)

This research aims to determine the expectations of students of the Music Department of a Fine Arts High School from their piano teachers. The case study design, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted in the study. The necessary data within the scope of the research was collected through a survey form consisting of open-ended questions. The study group of the research consists of 119 students studying in the music department of Antalya ATSO Fine Arts High School. The obtained data were analyzed with the content analysis method. The main theme-subthemes and codes formed as a result of the analysis were interpreted by tabulating. The research findings are shaped around the themes of the students' expectations from piano teachers such as professional field competencies, personal characteristics, getting to know the student and attitudes towards the student, the teachinglearning process and classroom management. The findings obtained show that students expect a high level of technical competence, effective communication skills, a student-centered approach and fair evaluation methods from piano teachers. These findings indicate that teacher training and professional development programs should be designed with a multidimensional approach in order to increase efficiency in piano education.
