Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the changes in mechanical behaviours with rolling direction in cold-rolling process. For years, sheets rolled in a single direction released some problems during manufacturing process. Al-sheets rolled in a single direction exhibited cracking at the edges during cold forming. On macroscopic scale, sheets rolled in a single direction represents grains oriented in a certain direction. Therefore, it is expected that material strength will increase in the rolling direction and decrease in the transverse direction. Sheets deformed in same manner reveals different responses due to this anisotropic structure of the materials. This study mainly consists of two parts: Experimental and Modelling. In the experimental part, the behaviour of the single and cross-rolled Al-sheets subjected to uniaxial tensile stress is investigated. Tensile specimens were cut from rolling direction (0 ? ), transverse direction (90 ? ) and at 45 ? angle to the rolling direction. The anisotropy of the sheets rolled with two different process is investigated. In the second part, the tensile test is simulated with FEM by using the experimental results and therefore behaviour of the material in the plastic region is also obtained. In this context, thesis is composed of seven basic parts: In the first part, a general information about the description, types and methods of rolling process is given. Next, stress and strain subject is mentioned briefly. In the following part, related studies are represented. In the fourth part, the tensile experiment is explained. Experimental studies and the results are given in the next section. Plotted engineering graphs are also given. In sixth part, the topic will be taken up in terms off FEM, and test sample was simulated in a FE program called ABAQUS. At result, all the operations are briefed and results are explicated. Key words: cold rolling, anisotropy, tensile test, Stress, Strain, FEM
