Abstract (EN)
This research; The aim of this study was to investigate whether the physical education and sports lessons applied to high school students with mild mental disability have an effect on the motor development of the students and to bring a new perspective to the motor development of the disabled individuals. The applications were implemented with and without materials, and it was planned to be done for a total of 12 weeks, for 40 minutes, once a week at Özerler Special Education Vocational School, and for 2x40 minutes, once a week for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Anatolian High School. The short form of the second version of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Proficiency Test (BOT-2) was used as a measurement tool. The Skewness and Kurtosis normality test (±3) was applied to the obtained data (Jondeau E, Rockinger M.2003). After the normality test, in order to determine whether there was a difference between the basic motor development levels depending on the program applied to the study groups and the duration of the study, repeated measurements for measurements at the α = 0.05 significance level were applied. According to the Bruininks Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, 8 subtests (Fine Motor Dexterity, Manual Dexterity, Bidirectional Coordination, Fine Motor Integrity, Balance, Running Speed and Agility, Hand-Arm Coordination, Power) and Total Motor Composite were among the repeated measurements made to the experimental group. It was determined that there was a statistically significant (p<0.05) difference between the values. This result can be interpreted as physical education and sports lessons have positive effects on all school levels, as well as being valid for mild mental disabilities. In this context, the more effective use of physical education and sports lessons in the lives of mildly mentally disabled people shows that they are an important factor in their motor development and adaptation to society.
