The life of Ismail Cosar and his contributions to Turkish music

In this research, it was aimed to analyze the life of Hâfız Ismail Cosar who has been an important character in the recent period of Turkish Religious Music, to evaluate his method of practising music through the analyses of his Turkish Religious Music branches of adhan, mawlid, eulogy and islamic chants, to keep a record of these pieces of art and transmit them to the upcoming generations. Ismail Cosar was raised with traditional meshk (an old word for love) system and he was an excellent performer of mosque music and islamic monastery music, having a considerable reputation in these fields. He had been performing all over the world for half a century just like a cultural ambassador, reciting the Holy Qur'an, adhan, mawlid, and eulogy in various geographies. He has appeared on screens in many programmes of Turkish television and radio channels, gained the love and affection of masses by his recitation of Holy Qur'an and Adhan calls. In this study, the life of Ismail Cosar and his music performance was discussed with an academical approach.
