Synthesis and characterization of ABC block copolymers from amphiphilic linear AB type block copolymer prepared by ring opening polymerization

Abstract (EN)

In this study, monomers containing epoxide ring [2-(3-methyl-3-phenyl) oxirane, 1,2-epoxy-3-phenoxy) propane, 2-(naphthalene-1-yloxy) methyl oxirane] and ?-caprolactone were suffered ring opening polymerization by using Sn(Oct)2 and BF3O(C2H5)2 catalysts. Acylated hydroxyl ended group synthesized block copolymers, were converted ATRP macro initiator for used in polymerization of different monomers and ABC type block copolymers were synthesized. The homopolymers, copolymers and block copolymers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The thermal behaviors of polymers were measured by DSC and TGA and the results were compared with each other. The average molecular weights and the polydispersities of polymers were measured by GPC device. By acylating the poly(1,2-epoxy-3-phenoxy)propane ended hydroxyl was modified by diethanolamine (DEA) and dye adsorption and its kinetic were investigated. The activation energy for thermal degradation of ABC type block copolymers was calculated according to the methods of Flynn-Wall-Ozawa, Kissenger and Tang by using decomposition curves in different heating rations. The activation energies of (PNMO-b-P?-CL-b-PEMA) were found as 284, 269, 161 kJ/mol, respectively, by using Flynn-Wall-Ozawa, Kissenger and Tang methods. The viscosity measurements of copolymers were carried out by using Ubbelohde viscosimeter. Their intrinsic viscosity from experimental results was determined. The electrical properties of ABC type polymers depending on frequency and temperature were investigated. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss factor, conductivity, susceptance and impedance values were showed by graphics and compared with each other. Dielectric constants of PEFP-b-P?-CL-b-PMMA and PEFP-b-P?-CL-b-PST were found 2.6 and 3.95 at 1 kHz respectively.
