ABSTRACTMaster ThesisSYNTHESIS OF CYCLIC THIOUREAS AND THEIR N-SUBSTITUTED DERIVATIVESSema ÖZELFırat UniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied Sciencies,Department of Chemistry2006, Page: 415-, 6- and 7-membered cyclic thioureas and 2-methylthio-1H-benzimidazole weresynthesized in good yields in one-pot from aliphatic diamines and 1,2-diamino-benzene,respectively. The reactions were carried out in a cold basic medium. N-substitutedderivatives of these compounds were synthesized by using morphloline. piperidine,benzoyl chlorüre, 2-chlorobenzoyl chlorür, benzyl chloride. 1,3-bis(2-chlorobenzoyl)imidazolidine-2-tiyon, 1,3-bis(4-methoxybenzoyl) imidazolidine-2-thion,1-Acetyl-2-methylthio-1H-benzimidazole, 1-(2-chlorobenzyl)-2-methylthio-1H-benzimidazolewere synthesised in gold yields.Key Words: Cyclic thioureas, imidazolidine-2-thione, substituted benzimidazoles.
