Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the food demands of the households residing in the urban area of Adana. Multivariate statistical analysis methods were used to determine whether households have similar characteristics with each other, and if there are similarities, to determine what they are. As a result of the hierarchical clustering method, it was determined that the households with similar food expenditures in their incomes formed 9 clusters. When these clusters were examined, it was observed that while all clusters were similar in terms of the number of people in the household, there were differences between clusters for all other variables. Econometric methods were also used in the research to analyze the effects of variables on the share of food expenditures in household incomes. According to the results of econometric analysis, the effect of the "income" variable is relatively high compared to other variables.
