Even though people have different languages, religions, beliefs and lifestyles, there are universal values that all humanity care about which are met everywhere and gain public acceptance. These values ensure their continuity by being transmitted from person to person, society to society generation to generation. The aim of this study is to determine wheather Hans Christian Andersen Award winning narrative texts contain universal values or not. For this purpose, narrative texts in eighteen books, compiled by eleven differend authors, constitute the data collection tool of this study. In the study, document analysis, which is one of the data collection techniques of qualitative research methods, was used. Determining the universal values, the root values and Schwartz values classification determined in the curriculum by the Ministry of National Education were used as criteria. The universal values identified in the narrative texts were presented by making direct transfers with content analysis. Twenty six different universal values were determined in this content analysis. It has been concluded that the universal values determined as a result of the study findings can be recommended in terms of transferring them to individuals in childhood and early youth.
